Dan Desrochers was born in Rochester NY on April 14th 1968,but did most of his growing up in York Pennsylvania.

Dan Desrochers is a 1991 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. degree in Marketing and a minor in Economics (he's 1 course shy of a minor in Political Science). He was also fortunate enough to meet his wife to be at a frat party on the very first night he was at IUP.

Dan has lived in 9 states since he was 18 years old and believes that experience has helped him appreciate all that Erie has to offer, but he feels that taxes are too high compared to other places he has lived

He was small business marketing consultant and had own his own business in San Francisco in 1996 when he got engaged to his wife, Jennifer, a native of Erie. She refused to move to California and he refused to move to Erie so they settled on Florida, after being married at Saint Peter's Cathedral April 5th 1997. Dan worked as general manager of Quality Screening and Window, a window replacement company in Sarasota. The company saw a 400% increase in revenue and an 800% increase in profit in just over 4 years under Dan's management. Dan left Quality and co-founded with his father, a retractable screen door manufacturing company. www.dreamscreens.com. (which is doing very well today).

He sold his stake of that company to move his homesick wife back to Erie in early 2001. They bought the house next his in-laws near 38th & State. Dan's two boys ages 8 & 10, are students at Saint George school on Peach Street. The Desrochers are also members of that parish. His wife, Jennifer is a teacher at OLC and is much happier now too.

After a few false starts after moving to Erie, Desrochers started as PR Director at the blood bank in March 2003. He was promoted to Director of Marketing and Community Relations in the spring of 2007. Since his employment the Community Blood Bank has enjoyed a rapid expansion from serving 3 counties in Pennsylvania to now serving 8 counties in 2 states. The CBB expects to provide 42,000 units of blood and blood products to local patients in 2009. The Community Blood Bank also enjoys the distinction of being the lowest cost blood provider in the entire United States saving their client hospitals millions of dollars each year compared to their competitors. Dan is no stranger to tight budgets and making tough decisions with limited resources.
